Every battlefield has a body count. Most bases don't show it.
You spent hours on the model. The armor is edge-highlighted, the eyes are dotted, the cloak has three layers of wash. Then it goes onto a base that's sand, a tuft of static grass, and... nothing. No story. No sign that anyone has ever died on this ground.
That ends today. Just in time for Halloween, we've released BWTF Scenics Human Skulls, a pack of 60 high-resolution skull STLs built to scatter, pile and bury across everything you paint.

What's in the ossuary
Sixty skulls, three styles, two states of "well, that went badly":
- Full skull, mouth closed – 10 intact, 10 bashed in
- Full skull, mouth open – 10 intact, 10 bashed in. The screamers.
- Skull missing the lower jaw – 10 intact, 10 bashed in. Perfect for anything that's been lying in the mud a long time.
That's 20 unique skulls per style, so your piles never look copy-pasted. Nothing kills the grim vibe faster than spotting the same skull three times on one base.
True 28mm scale (and tiny)
Each skull stands roughly 3.5 to 4.5mm tall, sized for 28mm heroic-scale miniatures. That means they sit naturally next to your models' boots instead of looking like boulders with eye sockets. They're sculpted high-res, so the cranial ridges, eye sockets and cracked damage on the bashed-in versions hold up under a drybrush and a wash.
Printing tip: at this size, resin printers will show the most detail. Print them in a batch on a small raft or tray, and you'll have a lifetime supply of skulls from a single plate.
10 ways to use 60 skulls
- Basing. Two or three skulls half-sunk in the dirt turns a plain base into a battlefield.
- Trophy piles. Stack them high under a warlord, a champion or a daemon prince.
- Ossuary and crypt terrain. Line niches, fill alcoves and carpet catacomb floors.
- Objective markers. A skull cairn on a 32mm or 40mm base makes an instantly readable objective.
- Battlefield aftermath. Scatter them among wrecks, craters and barricades.
- Dioramas and display bases. Use the open-mouth skulls for horror scenes and the jawless ones for long-forgotten graves.
- Undead and necromancer armies. Raise the dead, literally, around your skeleton hordes.
- Chaos and cultist shrines. Altars, banners and sacrificial pits all need a skull count.
- Kitbashing. Glue them onto vehicle hulls, tank tracks, belts and backpacks.
- Halloween tables. Spooky season games deserve spooky scenery.
Build the whole scene
Skulls look best when they're part of a story. Pair them with the rest of the BWTF Scenics line here on the store:
- BWTF Scenics Artillery Shells & Casings – spent brass next to fallen soldiers tells you exactly how the fight went.
- Battle-Damaged Concrete Barriers – skulls piled against a breached checkpoint wall. Grim. Perfect.
- Classic Columns – a ruined temple floor littered with bones.
- Mushroom Basing Accessories x30 – fungus growing out of old skulls in a swamp or forest base.
- Closed Gothic Books – a necromancer's study, complete with former students.
And for the full Halloween treatment, the Pumpkin Lords V10K Franken-Pack already comes loaded with skull pods. Put a pile of skulls at their feet and the army practically paints itself orange.
