Starting August 1, 2023, Shapeways is announcing an upgrade to their Fine Detail Plastic (FDP) material. They will be transitioning from the Gray FDP to the Tan FDP, which is powered by the 3D Systems VisiJet M2R-TN technology. The best part is that this upgrade will be offered at the same price point as before.
We understand that changes like these can raise questions and concerns, but please rest assured that we have taken every measure to ensure a smooth and seamless transition for you. Our support team will be available to guide you through the process and answer any queries you may have.
Shapeways firmly believe that this upgraded material, the Tan FDP, will elevate the quality of the products we sell and bring a new level of detail and precision to our bits.
With this upgrade, Shapeways will be saying goodbye to the Smooth and Smoothest FDP materials, as they have reached the end of their life cycle. The Project 3600 3D printers, which supported these materials, are no longer available on the market. Shapeways is committed to providing you with the most up-to-date and advanced options available.
Please bear with us as we work on updating the the products on our site for Tan FDP over the next few weeks. We want to make sure you have a clear understanding of the capabilities and advantages of this new material. If in doubt choose the Gray/Tan option or the Clear option and now we will let you know if there are any issues.
