First things First, BW Terrain & Forge
Is Not Shutting Down!!!

We have an important update that we need to share with you. Our primary 3D printing partner, Shapeways, has ceased operations and filed for bankruptcy as of July 2nd, 2024. This unexpected development is a significant blow to our operations and affects our ability to produce and deliver some of our custom model bits in the short term.

Shapeways Closure: What Happened?

For the past 17 years, Shapeways has been a cornerstone in the 3D printing industry, providing a wide range of printed goods, including many of the miniatures and terrain pieces that you have come to love from us. Unfortunately, Shapeways has filed for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy and has shut down all operations. This closure has left many independent shop owners, including us, in a very bad position regarding outstanding orders and future production. Basically they have taken your money closed the doors and not fulfilled the orders they were entrusted with.

Impact on BW Terrain & Forge

While this situation is difficult, we want to assure you that BW Terrain & Forge is not shutting down. All the items currently available in our store remain accessible, and we are actively negotiating with several companies to reinstate our extensive catalog of custom products as soon as possible.

This moment also provides an opportunity to explore new ways to deliver the products you love. We are considering expanding our selection of downloadable STL files in our store and offering them on other platforms.

Ongoing Efforts and Alternatives

It’s important to note that not all of our 3D products were produced through Shapeways. We also offer a range of gaming mats, printable gaming tiles, and custom gaming gear and apparel. These products are still available, and we are working to expand our offerings in these categories. Our team is ready to process your orders now.

For some of our most popular products, which require high-end, industrial 3D printers, we are exploring alternative solutions. The industrial printers used in Eindhoven might be our best option to maintain the premium quality you expect from us. We are committed to forming a partnership with them if and when they resume operations.

Next Steps

We hope to be back and better than ever. We are in talks with other vendors who are striving to fulfill outstanding orders. However, there are challenges to overcome, including orders that may be in transit at the now-closed U.S. facility. We are working on solutions and will keep you updated on our progress. Also we need time to transition our product lines to a new vendor.
